Hello everyone,

This petition is about my pet pig Bella. Bella is quiet, housebroken and extremely loveable, Proir to me getting Bella, I looked into bylaw rules and there was nothing about swine as domestic pets, there were rules about livestock but Bella is not livestock, she is bred to be miniature for a pet..not for breakfast. I have letters from her vet supporting this. I have had bella for 1.5 years since she was 8 weeks old, I had a visit from by-law in July about bella and they want to fine me $610 for harvesting livestock in a zone not permitted to do so, the complaint was not that she was loud, messy, or a nusince simply that I have her as a pet. I initially went to my city counsellor for some advice and assistance, and unfortunately he was not only not helpful he was rude. All the neighbours that know her, adore her, she is an important part of our neighbourhood and more importatly our family. I don't want to sacrafice one of my pets that we consider a member of the family, especially when I know she isn't livestock (which is what the fine is for),  and other cities and juristictions allow them. We are having a hard time getting help to fight for bella, mainly due to lack of resources. We attended court Oct 5th to fight for her....and it got rescheduled until March 2, 2012. Please help us fight for our bella to have the by-law changed, to allow mini pigs to be pets and not livestock. We are finally getting some help with the media (yay) We greatly appreciate all of your support. Thanks.
