We oppose the county manager's proposal in his FY2027 budget to close Cherrydale Library. The library is inexpensive, cost-effective, well managed, energy-efficient, structurally sound, architecturally beautiful, and deeply cherished by generations of north Arlingtonians. Closing it would destroy the soul of our community, just to save pennies. We urge you to reject the county manager's proposal.

Please keep this neighborhood library open. My family has such great memories walking here to check out books or stopping by after school for quiet homework time. Other families should have the same opportunity. Please keep our 'third places' available to our kids!
The Cherrydale library is a treasure. We have very few extra things from the county in North Arlington and this one is vital. I use it several times a week. I’m old than handicapped and it’s very difficult to get to Central library and get into Central library
As a native of Cherrydale neighborhood, I grew up going to Cherrydale library and now enjoy taking my children to it often. It is a wonderful library with a rich history, kind staff and would be very sad if it’s closed. Please consider keeping it open. Thank you.
This makes almost no economic sense in terms of budget impact and cost effectiveness and will have a significant negative impact on the surrounding community. This facility helps build individual community cohesiveness, at a time when that attribute is so important.
I love the Cherrydale branch. It's the closest branch to me, and not owning a car, that makes a huge difference. I go there often to study for my online degree. It's different and quieter and feels safer than Central. The staff has been amazing to me.
No other libraries within walking distance of my house
Cherrydale Library is part of the soul of our community. Adults and children alike gather here for activities and classes. We meet neighbors here and, of course, we have access to all that the county library has to offer in terms of reading and listening materials. One of the highlights that my son and I both anticipate when he moves back into this community in June is being able to share Cerrydale with his own young sons, as I did with him. My husband even wrote a children’s story called - you guessed it - Cherrydale for our kids since it was such an important part of their lives growing up. There aren’t many places that serve to bring our community together. Won’t you please leave Cherrydale Library open and help make our community a “caring, learning, participating, sustainable community in which each person is important.”

The libraries are one of the best things about Arlington. Closing this library branch will inconvenience a significant number of people in North Arlington and will exacerbate the continually worsening parking situation at the Central Library.
