The Evanston branch library system is once again under tremendous scrutiny and possible danger of extinction. We, the undersigned, feel strongly that this unique branch system serves the community well in a way that a central library never can, in bringing the available programs, books and resources to the community in a way that is easily accessible. We support the branch system and eagerly encourage its continued success. We encourage the city council to provide us with more time to explore other private/public funding opportunities and allow for a reprieve of at least one year to look into other funding options before eliminating the branches from the budget. We hit one thousand signatures today. It has been a long and draining road to get here but seeing this level of backing proves we are not fighting this battle alone.

The days feel long and the path to a thousand names is harder than I expected. I am dragging myself back to this task because we cannot let our momentum slip away now.

Reaching one hundred signatures feels like a long climb up a steep hill. My eyes are tired from staring at these screens but knowing that others care about our libraries keeps me going.

So sad to see this happening again. These branches keep our neighborhoods connected. PLEASE find another way to handle the budget.

The librarians at our branch are wonderful and really help the seniors in the area with computers. Cant imagine losing this resource.

Keep the libraries open. My tax dollars go to these services and I use them constantly. Dont cut corners on our kids education.

THEY NEED TO STAY OPEN. The central library is way too far for a lot of people in this town.

My kids walk to the branch every single day after school. If they close it down they have to cross busy streets to get to the main library. This is just wrong.
