We the undersigned deplore the Council\'s decision to close the Alvering Library. We believe that it is a vital, valuable and accessible resource for local residents, school children, and visitors of all ages, and an essential base for the mobile library service. We do not believe that the proposed town centre library will serve the same purpose, or be as accessible as Alvering Library is to all users, particularly to local nurseries and schools that use Alvering Library, and to less mobile users who are able to park directly outside. We therefore urge the Council not to go ahead with its plan to develop a town centre library or to close Alvering Library as a consequence.
