We are calling on VA Beach School Board Member Jennifer Franklin to resign for her cowardly vote of abstention and therefore, not giving a voice to her constituents. Her abstention also killed the resolution that would have adopted the Governor's 2023 Model Policies on transgender students. The VA Beach School Board is in violation of the law, in part, due to Franklin not voting in favor of the model policies.

On 8/22/23, the VA Beach School Board brought forward a resolution to adopt Gov Youngkins 2023 Model Policies on the topic of transgender students. School Board member Jennifer Franklin abstained from the vote which caused a 5-5-1 tie and therefore the motion failed due to not having a majority to approve the resolution.
The Attorney General recently released a legal opinion stating that the model policies do not violate any laws and that local school boards are required to adopt policies that are consistent with the 2023 Model Policies.
Jennifer Franklin not only was the deciding vote on the resolution failing but she also failed to give a voice to her constituents by abstaining. Franklin often sits on the fence and it isn't the first time she has abstained from a vote without good reason.
Virginia Beach needs representatives who are going to give citizens a voice and not sit on the sidelines. The Virginia Beach School Board is breaking the law by not adopting the 2023 Model Policies and Jennifer Franklin is one of those responsible for breaking the law.

Ms. Franklin needs to go. She was voted in to be a voice for her constituents. By refusing to vote, she not only didn't represent those who put her in office, but she also effectively led VBCPS in not following the law.
Jennifer Franklin deceived her constituents, running as a Republican and voting against every conservative vote that has been put up up to a vote
We need people in positions that are gonna be OUR voice and middle man…. When that ,consistently, doesn’t happen, there needs to be change
Regardless of whether I agree with you, as an elected official, you must make your position known, especially when it comes to deciding whether to defy the Governor or not! You are a coward!
Jennifer ran on a platform to represent all students but she has only represented a tiny minority of the student population. She abstains from important votes because she is weak. She needs to go and let someone in who stands for all parents and students.
Why did you abstain? Did you do your homework on this bill?
Time we get rid of the garbage and protect our children. We are their voice.

I worked hard to help get her elected. Her voting pattern has repeatedly disappointed me several times. #baitandswitch #turncoat.
