There are over 150 businesses operating from this road. Most of these businesses own cars, vans and other necessary vehicles – all required for the smooth operation of their businesses.
A serious problem has been identified by the businesses working on this road: Civilians living close to West Silvertown choose to park their personal vehicles on North Woolwich Road and travel by DLR leaving businesses with no space to park, although businesses should have priority parking in this area, considering it as a light industrial area.
In general circumstances, these commuters park their vehicles in the early hours of the morning, so when local business owners come to work, there is already no space for their cars. They end up parking on the other side of the road, a residential area, which causes concern for residents.
There is also an issue with double parking. Many Lorries that use this road are responsible for frequent congestion on the roads. To alleviate this issue, we are proposing a business permit scheme during working hours. This will be a two pronged approach enabling smoother running of businesses and also generate income for the council. We have discussed this with Mr. Stuart Welton from the council, who is currently aware of the traffic situation on the road as he visits the road often.
Furthermore, the condition of the road can at most times be deemed unacceptable, which is aggravated by the fact that there is no cleaning provision for the road. While we understand it is a commercial road with factories, it is our belief that a regular cleaning will aid in maintenance of the road and give the businesses a sense of responsibility to do their part.

I spent the entire morning watching delivery drivers struggle to find a single gap on the curb while commuters left their cars untouched for the day. Your stories about the constant gridlock and the stress of trying to run a business here prove that this is a daily nightmare for all of us. I am pushing for another follow up meeting to ensure the council understands that our patience is wearing thin.

Seeing this level of support confirms that I am not the only one struggling to run a business on this street. It feels like we are finally being seen after months of being ignored by the people who manage these roads.

Parking along Dock Road has proved to be detrimental to our business. Our drivers are unable to drop paperwork in to the office and are often issued with parking tickets when dropping goods to us. Our office staff are unable to find a safe legal place to park and are left with vehicles covered in dirt from the road.
I would like to enhance the view on the cleanliness of the area, frequently large rats are seen around these areas due to the non maintenance of the road. Small And large companies operate within this area and it doesn't look great when a rat runs out in front of your client!!
I concur to this proposal I feel it will alleviate chronic lack of parking condition between Mondays and Fridays and especially during business hours . Many times car tyres were punctured due to broken bottles and/or sharp objects and this only point to the fact that roads in the area are not swept or maintained as others.
Agreed permits for parking and there should be parking only 1 side of the road near the station. Business's should only used licensed forklifts & operators on the road - there is a major accident waiting to happen.
The state of this road is deplorable. At the end of the day "if you do get a space to park", you go home with a muddy vehicle because the road is full of potholes and the lorries speed pass leaving your vehicle covered in mud. This road definitely needs fixing, it's long overdue.
I took three circles of the road and couldn't find any parking. Its very bad for business.
Trying to run a courier Business when the drivers are often unable to park to drop off their paperwork and collect their pay slips makes life difficult but not as difficult as the problems that our office staff have when arriving for work

I am embarrassed to bring clients to the building we work in due to the smell of the drains. There should be parking permits for businesses that work on the road. The road is also never cleaned and disgusting.
