Gravesend has become ridicolous with the on road parking and the council dont seem to want to do anything about it. i know all roads have their issues but ones that are of particular annoyance and make no sense are:

Singlewell road - near Hammonds corner - i lived here for over 25 years and you could always park outside - then all of a sudden there is a sign up: in this area should be a 30 minute maximum stay with no return for one hour Monday to Saturday 8am – 6:30pm -

same in cross lane east

further down in windmill street - i think the bays near tivoli house is parking for one hour only - its a residential road?

Gravesham borough council will only do something if a petition is done - even though they are supposed to be doing a general parking review ( although this has been going on for ever and things are just being made worse by stupid parking restrictions!

i know there are many more so i urge you to sign this petition so we can get things changed !

Updates

March 3, 2019

The momentum generated by this petition demonstrates a shared frustration with the current parking policies in our borough. This level of engagement provides a strong foundation for our upcoming discussions with the council.

March 3, 2019

I have been reviewing the complaints submitted to the council regarding residential access and the current state of these restrictions. Your personal accounts of the daily frustration caused by these bays confirm that our grievances are shared across multiple neighborhoods. I am currently preparing a formal letter to present our collective position to the borough planners.

Many of the new restrictions make no sense, other than raising revenue for the Council. Many of the streets with new Permit-Only parking are not even near the town or station. As for reducing Windmill Street parking by Tivoli House to just one hour, bravo! I am now one of many who will no longer visit the town centre regularly to shop. Please see sense and listen to all the feedback.

Why discourage town centre shoppers who also want a bit of a walk by restricting parking to one hour at top of windmill street. My 75 year old father regularly parked here, walked into town to shop and walked back up. Now with the hour restriction, it’s impossible.

The parking in Singlewell road is a joke where the parking wardens hunt down residents who are just dropping their shopping off

I am a permanent resident here with a young daughter. The only option I have for parking is to: A) Park around the corner, moving my car at 11am and moving it back by 1pm B) Parking at least 15 minutes walk away and not having to move it (but often carrying a sleeping child from car to home) C) Paying over £7 per day to park at Parrock St Car Park D) Buying a season ticket at Parrock St Car Park for at least £1380 (which is still a 5 minute walk away)

I believe the main issue originally was the station. The council have tried to stop commuters parking in streets within walking distance of the station. Hence the hour restriction. However these latest developments - 30 mins only etc - do not appear related to that issue.

Life for home carers is getting really difficult with lack of parking to attend to the elderly in Gravesend , so much time wasted trying to park or have to walk from car,

I agree, it's ridiculous the way the Council carry on with permit parking.
