The instillation of metal detectors in New York State public schools is an important subject when considering the saftey of all staff, students, and visitors. Metal detectors don’t play a role in stopping all unsafe activity that may occur, but the presence will provide much needed value and comfort for everyone who may be concerned about the safety of public schools. Tensions continue to rise over this subject, and action must be taken now rather than later or at the extent of the federal governments’ time and leisure. A petition stating the installation of such as metal detectors may not be effective in the sense of “number of signatures” equals that to automatic requirement of installation; but the very least, can provide much needed awareness and act as the “first domino in the surrounding areas to take part in the installation program. Anyone with knowledge of school budgets, taxes used for school purposes, are strongly encouraged to make note of any important details that can make this more than just a call for awareness. Hopefully, this resonates with everyone and makes a crucial impact on the saftey of our children and members of society in which this greatly affects. Thank you.
