We petition Lifepoint to give priority to and provide funding for an extensive renovation to the Emergency Department located within SOVAH Health at 142 South Main St. Danville, VA.

The Emergency department (ED) has not been renovated in 22 years and is woefully short of beds to accommodate increasing patients, up 8% in the past year alone.

The layout of the current ED is inadequate to treat patients. A smaller Lifepoint owned hospital in the area had renovations 2 years ago to have 34 beds, Danville has 21.

The ED is often the "front door" to the hospital where patients and their families get their first impression of SOVAH here in Danville and it needs to be improved for the sake of our community. Doctors and nurses work tirelessly to serve the community, but the current facilities are inadequate to support even their best efforts.
