We want to help the residents of Hertfordshire, we want to improve Hemel Hempstead Hospital by trying to get back some of it's working facilities for members of the public. Including A&E and AAU. By signing this petition you can help us. The more people we get to sign our petition the more likely we are able to make a change but to also get this issue known to Members of the Parliament, so they can change this. We think this is a serious issue in Herfordshire as it's affecting the care and treatment of the residents of Hemel but also the surrounding areas. Travelling to Watford from Hemel Hempstead for some people could be an extra 15 miles for emergency care. This could be the difference between life and death. We don't want this to happen to anyone. What would happen if it was you in this situation, not knowing whether you would have to travel through all the traffic to get to Watford? Wouldn't you rather know that you have emergency care in Hemel Hempstead, just on your doorstep? So if you agree sign our petition to help make a change. Thank you.

I really never imagined this would gain so much speed and honestly it feels like people are finally waking up to the reality of what it means to be stuck in traffic when you need an emergency room. It is frankly exhausting to think about all those miles to Watford but seeing this response makes me feel like we might actually have a shot at getting someone in power to listen for once.

Watford General Hospital is a nightmare to reach at the best of times for A&E in an emergency as I have experienced with my husband who has chronic medical issues. Having Hemel Hempstead Hospital fully functional as it used to be would not only take the pressure off Watford General Hospital but would better serve the community.
What a state of insanity it is for the council to want to expand housing in Hemel by 20,000 or more and have no local hospital, Watford on a match day is manic !
I will never know if my Dad would have survived his heart attack if he could have been treated at Hemel Hempstead Hospital instead of the drive over to Harefield Hospital. I cannot fault the attention he received at Harefield, but am sure he would have stood a better chance to survive in a local facility.
With all the thousands of new houses being planned for Hemel and the surrounding areas a local hospital with A & E facilities and full services is vital to us all. Watford Hospital cannot cope and this puts all our lives at risk.
We had two Hospitals in this town when I was first married and moved here in 1983! The town is still growing at an alarming rate and we now have no Hospitals! Tell me that makes sence!!

Yes.It is high time we have a full fledged new Hospital in Hemel.Watford Hospital A&E is a nightmare and I had experienced their total inefficiency when I had an unfortunate incident on August 2011,resulting in my partial loss of hearing .
