This is a petition to Devon County Council Highways to get the existing crossing at Ilfracombe Junior School properly marked as a crossing.

At the moment the raised crossing on Princess Avenue is causing confusion for motorists and pedestrians alike, with neither knowing who has the right of way? Also despite parking restrictions already being in place there are still some people who park right next to the crossing obscuring the view of both the people trying to cross and the motorists using the road, often a motorist will not know whether an oncoming car has stopped to let them past the parked vehicle or stopped to let people hidden by the parked cars cross.

If this crossing is clearly marked as such, complete with zigzags, then all confusion will be eliminated and the zigzags should be clear enough to stop cars parking on (or next to) the crossing.

Ridiculous that it was built like this in the first place. Put the warning lines in and stop people parking on the crossing! My daughter almost got clipped last week.

About time. That road is a disaster waiting to happen.
