Art is an important and healthy outlet for self expression for young growing minds trying to comprehend our world. For 3/5 of my daughters I bought them sketchbooks yesterday and this is a way for them to be creative, relax and even sufferings vent and cope with every day stresses.

Please allow all elementary kids to have art taught by actual art teachers (not just art taught by regular classroom teachers) all year long. It is essential to develop the whole brain, not just the part we can evaluate with standardized testing.

My students love art and they are very sad when our wonderful art teacher has to leave our campus to teach at another campus. I would love to have my students have art all year long. They would be so much more creative if they were exposed to it all year.

As a graduate of Humble ISD, I think the availability of year-long art classes would be incredibly beneficial to students. I was lucky enough to have wonderful art teachers at all three of the HISD schools I attended and art was easily my favorite subject. I want other students to have the same opportunity.

Humble ISD students would definitely benefit from art classes similar to what is taught through the Glasnell Junior Art school. It’s a shame that I must drive 40 minutes to and from the museum district just so my child can receive quality art classes.

I started the Elementary Art program for the Humble ISD in 1991. I was told at that time that the projection was to have an Art teacher in every elementary school within 5 years. It is high time that prediction happens.

Art education is such an important part of a child’s development related to creative problem-solving, balance and perspective, among other things. Please make this available to all of our students!
