I want to stress the importance of visual arts in the school systems. Visual arts is just as important as math or other subjects. Every child is unique, every child should be given the opportunity to be introduced to art, because who knows what it could unlock. Art can be an outlet to students, a way to express themselves, a way to aleviate stress, a way to focus, a way to think freely and just create. Lets make sure EVERY student in NC is given the same opportunities to grow and be creative. Join me in this journey to make sure that ALL students are given the same opportunities in school by signing this petition to keep the arts in schools!

Art education should remain in the curriculum for students to participate in. It can reveal incredible talents that otherwise would go unnoticed. It can be a positive outlet in a world of conflicts, ease the sense of difficulties while the youth are finding their way of fitting in during adolescence, etc. Please continue to aid our future generation's creativity!!!

As a future NC teacher, I know how important it is to see students succeed, and art is vital in schools. It helps students learn how to create, express themselves, problem solve, develop fine motor skills, cope with stress and anxiety, experiment, focus, and become more open-minded.

Without visual arts, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am a senior, studio art major, at Appalachian state Universoty, and a firm believer that visual arts helps expand learning for children. It’s important to be creative in day to day life, and certainly in the work field. No matter which direction a child may take in their schooling, visual arts classes can help them to learn to problem solve and use their brains in more expansive ways. I have no doubt that the NC school systems, as they are currently structured, failed to help me reach my greatest potential. It is important to recognize that each person learns differently and that creative outlets can help teachers to recognize a child’s strengths, and find the best teaching approach for that child. Keep visual arts in schools, because it could mean the difference for your child’s future!
