Final supporters
The lollipop lady at Heather Garth Primary Academy retired back in 2013 & she has never been replaced, leaving the school without a crossing patrol. There have been numerous near misses over the past couple of years where children could have been seriously hurt. We urge the council to reconsider the decision to remove the lollipop patrol from Billingley View.

The traction gained on this petition has compelled the local council to agree to a formal review meeting regarding the crossing at Billingley View. I have spent the morning drafting the documentation required for them to justify the long-standing vacancy. We are finalizing our presentation to ensure the safety risks are clearly presented to the panel.

Last Friday, a car stopped to let us cross. As we set off to cross, another car overtook it and had to slam on his brakes when he realised we were in the road. It is very unsafe at the moment.
Obviously the children should be protected whist needing to cross the road to enter or leave the school but some parents need to look at how they park and drive whilst the children are being dropped off or collected
We need our lollipop ladies they are a safe guard for children Not just for safety across the road They know all the kids their families and would be the first to be aware if a child was being lured away by a stranger
whoever made the decision to not replace the crossing lady needs to sit outside the school to see how horrendous the road is especially in a morning. 2 schools within 100 yards of each other it's chaos!
Our childrens road safety should be just as important as their education, it's just a shame BMBC don't feel the need to keep our kids safe!! It would also create a nice little job for a parent who needs working hours within school times/holidays
I noticed the other day when taking my grandaughter Lily to school, that there was no crossing person. Surely the council can afford to pay someone for the few hours anyone will be there to do the job. Will it gave to take a fatality to make them do this?
I think every school should have a crossing lady my friend got knocked down when we are at junior school n only then did they get a lollipop person let's not have an accident happen before a lollipop person is appointed

We need a crossing patrol before a serious accident occurs. I have personally witnessed cars failing to stop while children are crossing the road. Also cars parking on the crossing making it even harder for children to cross safely. It's a fatality waiting to happen!
