  1. We call upon Cardiff Council to reinstate a school crossing patrol person on Heol Llanishen Fach, which services Llanishen Fach Primary School. This is a large, busy primary school which is situated on a very busy road.

One hundred people have signed on to demand a crossing guard for our children. It has been a long and draining road to get this far but I am not stopping now.

The emails I am receiving from the council are still just empty boilerplate responses that avoid the reality of the danger on Heol Llanishen Fach. It is exhausting to keep pushing when the silence from those in charge is so loud, but I am not stopping.

As a Registered Childminder, crossing multiple children is a challenge when the crossing patrol is in place, without one, it’s an accident waiting to happen - please consider that very few drivers seem to have the “time” to slow down, never mind stop for us! Thank you.

There is no zebra or pelican crossing so kids who walk to school on their own have to cross a busy road on their own. Chaos in the morning with all the cars dropping off aswell makes this road difficult to cross safely. If plan is to stop the crossing patrol a pelican/zebra crossing is needed.

I use this crossing every day with my three children. I don’t feel safe enough to cross that part of the road without a lollipop man/lady. Cars always seem in a rush, along with inconsiderate parking and I believe an accident will occur soon.

There are Cardiff buses, delivery lorries for local shops and parent vehicles in addition to normal passing traffic. With many o,dear children walking to and from school unassisted this is a severe health and safety risk. With around 500 children attending this school, a supervised crossing patrol is essential.

Walking to school is encouraged at council level and School level. Why then has an existing safety measure “the lollipop person” been removed. To facilitate safe walking to school this should be reinstated immediately.

The children need support to cross the road safely in order to foster their independence and confidence - especially younger children. Drivers are more likely to see and to stop for a lolly pop man/lady than a child or parent attempting the cross the road with no signage.

This is a much needed resource that we simply cannot lose, its children’s safety at risks as this is a busy road
