The residential streets of the Ashmont-area have long been host to parking for commuters. Some leave their cars parked for days, others for weeks. This, combined with increased development of the area, means parking for Ashmont-area residents, at areas not designated for residents, is increasingly challenging. We are petitioning to the City of Boston for the following areas, currently without parking restrictions, to be granted Residential Parking designations:
- Atherstone Street
- Burt Street from Washington Street to Ashmont Street
- Fuller Street from Atherstone Street to Washington Street
- Bailey Street from Atherstone to Washington Street
If you live in one of the above areas and agree with the intent, please show your support by signing the petition.
I've been a resident of Burt Street for almost 35 years. Speed bumps and residential parking signs are long overdue. Between the abandon cars in front of my home to having to dodge cars that believe Burt Street is a Nascar race track something has to be done. I fear for the safety of myself, my elderly father, my child and all of my fellow neighbors. Speed bumps could have perhaps saved the life of the toddler that wandered into the street just outside of my home in the early 90's. I'd hate to see that happen to anyone else.
