The council finally agreed to provide cover for our crossings and I am honestly stunned by the outcome. This happened only because you chose to speak up for our neighborhood. Please keep a close watch on the school gates to ensure they honor this commitment moving forward.

At Mengham Infant School, our wonderful lollipop lady has been unable to work lately.

The council are currently refusing to provide cover, meaning our young children have no one to see them safely across the busy road.

We need your support in petitioning the council. We need to make sure that if a lollipop lady is off work, suitable cover is put in place. Anything less is a failure of the council.

Please then sign our petition and let's keep our kids safe.

I truly never imagined that so many people would care about this crossing as much as I do. Seeing this kind of momentum is overwhelming and it reminds me that this is happening because you all chose to step up for our children.

Mill Rythe has 2 Crossing People, Mengham has None. It's Ludicrous. There is almost an Accident outside the Library Everyday. Get it Sorted before someone gets hurt.

My three grandchildren attend the Mengham schools and Elm Grove is an extremely busy road it is vital for the children's & parents safety that cover is provided by the council it is totally irresponsible for them not to .

Any other council position would surely receive cover for absence. This role is of great safety importance yet has no staff cover, hence the road is now unsupervised and a huge danger to all children trying to cross it.

Disgusting to have removed the lollipop lady and risk the lives of young children. There have been several near misses whereby the lollipop lady has had to jump out of the way of speeding cars who have decided not to stop.

Mother of 2 sons who attend Mengham school. Totally unacceptable not not have a lollipop person on this crossing...extremely busy..will only be a matter of time before a tragic accident occurs

The cost of serious injury to a young child is enormous, care costs alone for a disabled child would pay many lollipop lady/gentlemen for decades. Then add in trauma, lost revenue... the list is endless come on HCC get a grip.

Ludicrous that the council believe that children should cross the busiest road, without a lollipop person.
