The Adams Vista on the east exposure of MtGreylock has been a hang glider launch since 1974. Thousands of incident-free hang glider and paraglider flights have taken place over the years, with maintenance of the launch area accomplished by volunteer labor provided by various clubs.

Recent regulations, while necessary and acceptable, have slowed or stopped the maintenance of the launch until a formal maintenance plan has been submitted and approved, which allows the trimming of tall plant growth and water drainage repair and erosion prevention.

The undersigned fully support a proposal submitted to the State by the Massachusetts HGA for the continued maintenance of the launch and general vista.

The proposal can be downloaded from here: https://www.masshga.org/blog/

Seeing this level of support confirms that the history of the Adams Vista holds value for many people beyond the flying community. This momentum creates a strong foundation as we prepare to present our case to the state authorities. I am encouraged by how many people recognize the importance of preserving this site for future generations.

Routine maintenance of hang-gliding and paragliding sites is an integral part of keeping our launch sites safe for both present and future flying activities. My first flight from Mt. Greylock was in 1975 and was one of my most memorable. I hope this proposed maintenance plan gets approved as I believe that it will benefit this unique site well into the future.

I support this motion without reservation. This is one of the most beautiful places I've yet flown, and free flight is a benefit to non-flyers as well as the pilots. Spectators love watching the hang gliders and paragliders launch from this spot. It is a welcome surprise for many who visit the park.

I support efforts to keep the launch area maintained and safe and the view open. I grew up in Cheshire, my wife in Adams and we both have great memories of the view from and visits to the top of the mountain as too do our children. I’ve also had the pleasure of flying my hang glider there years ago and hope to again at some point.

Graylock is one of only a handful of America's "heritage" flying sites, enjoyed by foot-launched ultralight (hang glider and paraglider) pilots from around the world. Please do what you can to keep this site open, available, accessible and safe for recreational pilots.

first flew there 7/6/75...it is still a premier flying site. one of the best showcases for free flight. a manicured launch area is mandetory for safe flying.

I was in top of MT Greylock yesterday and the overgrowth on the aforementioned area was an eyesore. Trimming and maintenance would greatly improve the aesthetic look as well as making it safer for hikers, tourists and pilots alike!

Having a safe launch for the pilots is so obvious that can’t believe we are having to petition for this.
