Grace Ushang was a young Nigerian woman and a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Maiduguri, Borno State. She was raped to death by some men still at large who took offence because she was wearing her khaki trousers- the official uniform of the youth corpers. The compounded crimes that killed Grace Ushang painfully return our attention to the pervasiveness of violence against women in Nigeria. The Nigerian Feminist Forum (NFF) is demanding that the Government: •Investigate fully the incidents leading to Grace’s death and ensure justice is done by prosecuting the perpetrators. •Guarantee the safety of National Youth corpers in all States in Nigeria. •Enact a law to protect Nigerian women from all forms of violence.
