Fr. Mike baptized me and I want him to stay with us through our 8th grade graduation and May Crowning Mass next year.

I appreciate all that Father Mike has done for my family. He has given his life to his vocation, and has done a truly remarkable job. He absolutely deserves to have a transition year. This parish and our school deserve that too.

Priests may petition for retirement from assigned diocesan ministry at the age of 70. Fr. Mike turns 70 in March 2018. Why make him stay beyond his allowed retirement date? Working six 10 hour days each week at age 69 is probably more than anyone signing this petition would be willing to do.

Unless there is an undisclosed justification ( as it relates to Cannon Law ) compelling this action, this MAN OF GOD has earned the privilege of full retirement benefits. This order is not consistent with Jesus' teachings and actions.

I am having a difficult time believing this is true. Father Mike has spent years building SMG into the most respected (and growing) Catholic community in the diocese. The Church and School is the symbol of our Catholic Faith. This is due to Father Mike and his dedication to SMG. Why not treat him the way he has taught us to treat others. With respect and love.

I can't believe a bishop can unilaterally make a decision to end an asset's career. Unbelievable!

So disappointed w/our Bishop. Has caused our Parish (St.Al's) to literally fall apart.
