Sex education and HIV/AIDS prevention education in Fremont Unified School District should be medically accurate and comprehensive, as mandated by California law.
As Fremont parents, students and community members, we request that prior to the beginning of the 2008/09 school year the FUSD school board and superintendent remove 7th and 9th grade instructional materials that are in violation of the law and replace them with the comprehensive, science-based instruction that our FUSD students deserve and that the law requires.
The focus behind the scenes remains on ensuring our district materials align with state requirements for accuracy. Hearing from so many of you confirms that the need for a comprehensive approach to health education is shared by many families in this community.

Reaching this current level of support demonstrates how many people in our community prioritize science based and accurate education for our students. I am encouraged by the steady commitment shown by those who see the necessity of aligning our school materials with state law.
