“We, the undersigned, call on the administrations of both organizations to find a way forward in a manner that preserves and complements the unique qualities and utility of each organization.”
Principles:
1. Maintain the Reserve’s unique character as a “sanctuary for wildlife and the human spirit”
2. Help the Reserve and the Shelter find/create sustainable paths into the future. They are both assets to and resources for the community, and they each depend on the support of the community.
3. Continue the core of Prentice Bloedel’s original vision- to be a good neighbor, to conserve resources, and to welcome people to the Reserve so they renew their spirit and their appreciation for nature and wildlife
I am both a member and contributor to the Bloedel Reserve for many years. I am also a contributor to the Wildlife Shelter. I am dismayed knowing that the Shelter is being told to move their facility especially after having invested so greatly in their waterfowl and eagle facilities. Surely there is a better way to accomplish the Reserve's plans without destroying all that the Shelter has built. There is real tradition in play. We need to honor our past deeds by working in harmony with them.

Dont destroy what people worked so hard to build. Seems like there is plenty of room for both if everyone just works together.

This is just sad. Both places are so special to our town and they really belong together. Why cant they just talk it out?

Ridiculous decision. Leave the shelter alone! They do great work and moving them now makes no sense at all.

I have visited both for years. PLEASE find a way to make this work without forcing the shelter to leave. This place is a treasure.
