Demand an end to Hyattsville's dragnet surveillance of all residents!

On March 24th, 2025, the Hyattsville City Council voted to accept grant funding to install 24 Automated Licence Plate Readers (ALPRs) from Flock Safety throughout Hyattsville, establishing a dragnet surveillance system of all Hyattsville residents, a clear and obvious violation of residents' Forth Amendment rights to privacy. Learn more about ALPRs at deflock.org

Across the nation, Flock ALPRs have been used by local police departments and federal immigration agents to abduct and detain residents, track the movement of women seeking health care services across state lines, intimidate residents, and build a nation-wide database of citizens that can be accessed at any time and anywhere by law enforcement.

Join your fellow Hyattsville residents and demand an end to mass surveillance in our community!

Don;t give ICE another tool for their indiscriminate round-ups. Remember that we will all be subject to this surveillance. Do you want to be responsible for allowing it? Someone you know could be hauled in for being the wrong color, wrong gender or expressing the wrong views.

Flock has been shown over and over again to be a massive breach of privacy with images supposedly private or erased still available to almost anyone. I, for one don't want to live in a surveillance state, especially during this time when law enforcement is increasingly hostile to communities. Flock is NOT to be trusted. PLEASE do not use this technology.

If you don't understand that surveillance without evidence of a crime is a violation of Constitutional rights, you have no business serving in government.

Hyattsville has already shown overenforcement of traffic and parking violations. This is not about Public Safety. It is excessive and wasteful spending to support the egregious wealth transfer from the poor and struggling of our community to the Administration. Stop violating our Rights for your benefit!

We all deserve privacy. Please do not accept the installation of these invasive cameras in our communities. We have seen documentation that Flock cooperates with ICE. Having these cameras betrays our neighbors and community

I live in Greenbelt but am in Hyattsville regularly and have loved some of the institutions (franklins, etc) for over 10 years. I would NOT take my business to hyattsville anywhere near as much with flock cameras around!

I did NOT deploy and leave my family for 15 months to come back to a surveillance state. Freedom is what I served for, and constant monitoring is not freedom. That’s the presumption of guilty and last I checked it’s innocent until proven guilty. A nanny cam on every street is not what I pay my taxes for. Fix your roads!
