Nor only is this unfair and discriminatory but without foundation and reason apart from cynical electioneering. We have all paid into the tax pot all our lifes and now cost the UK government and the NHs nothing . Has he ever lived in Spain? Then he would know that large parts of Spain get snow and minus temperatures. Most UK citizens living here are retired and are relying on this money to pay their heating bills in the winter. Can the present government really afford to loose several hundred thousand votes?

Really not fair - I only get £26.40 a week pension, so really need the Winter Fuel Allowance.
what nonsense from an out of touch goverment, we all paid our dues while working in the u.k (59 years ) what right have the likes of plum in the mouth I.D.S. got to deprive us of what we are ENTITLED to

we have paid taxs just because we live in spain it still bloody cold in Winter
we have paid for our allowances and never scrounged off the tax payer. I still pay tax at. 76
Spain is cold now.
i paid into the system all my working life and now I am unable to work due to industrial injuries I am entitled to this benefit.

UK ex pats are currently saving the Britishtaxpayer in the region of £2.5b as year by not claiming UK based benefits such as bus passes, tv licence waiver etc. the paltry saving by stopping our WFP is surely not worth the lost votes to the government!
