We the undersigned recognise the serious problem of fuel poverty in this country amongst older people faced with rising energy bills, believe that the excess winter death rate amongst pensioners is a scandal and call on the government to reverse itsdecision to cut the winter fuel payment.

I was just staring at the counter and realized we actually hit one thousand signatures which feels completely surreal considering how quiet things were when I first hit publish on this page. Honestly I spent the whole morning reading through the comments from people who are just as worried as I am and it makes my hands shake a little bit thinking about how many of us are struggling with these bills right now.

We are just about to hit a thousand signatures and honestly that number is going to look so good when we finally talk to the people in charge who keep ignoring people who are cold. Please send this around right now because I really need people to see that we are not just a small group shouting into the void here.

I can see the counter creeping up toward that first hundred and it is honestly wild to think about so many people feeling this same frustration about the fuel cuts. If this is going to actually get somewhere we need to shove it into a few more feeds or group chats right now because momentum is everything.

Not all people have enough income to heat their homes as they didn’t qualify for more than a state pension which is not a luxurious life style even if it is paid out at the highest rates which isn’t always the case. If necessary make it an automatic payment to those on pension credit and have others apply on low incomes but Do Not Do Away With It Altogether.

We also experience minus temperatures in Spain. Heating is essential for us in the winter

I live in a small community in the mountains of Malage (higher than Ben Nevis), does anyone in government know their geography? We are experiencing minus temperatures as I type and next week the forecast is for snow!

I have paid my taxes all my life and served my country in the Army, as a pensioner I am entitled to live reasonably comfortably during winter. The heating allowance goes a long way to help with this

outrageous to stop this allowance. here in central France we had -12 last winter and -25 the previous. how can we be classed as 'warmer' climes?
