The latest ploy of this government is to reduce the pensions of ex-soldiers in the AFPS ie those who served before 2005 the way they are trying to do this is by changing the annual increase in pensions currently they are linked to RPI and they Want to change to the lower rate of CPI.
The reason they want to do this can be illustrated by taking the figures for a Sgt who retired at 42 and a life expectancy of 85 under RPI his payment over this period could be in excess of £650,000 if this was calculated using CPI the figure would reduce to £450,000 multiply this difference by the ammount of ex-service men which could be in the hundreds of thousands stand to save many Billions of pounds this may look good to the accountants in the MOD but this is your right you have served for this and they are trying to take it from you.
Remember you stood to be counted when you country needed you and the country should stand up for you in your days of retirement. Remember this is your money and you should decide where it goes if this government gets away with this you can kiss any further increases goodbye.

My own father served for decades and he is terrified about how these changes will impact his ability to afford basics once he finally stops working. I have been spending my nights reviewing the messages from those of you who poured your life into service only to be treated like a rounding error on a MOD balance sheet.

Cpi vs rpi is just a scam to steal money from veterans paychecks. leave it alone.
Total betrayal. We did our bit now they treat us like a line item on a spreadsheet.
They promised us security when we signed up. Now they move the goalposts. Greedy absolute joke.
Disgraceful. These men and women gave everything and now the govt wants to nickel and dime them? Absolutely not.
My husband served 22 years and this is just a slap in the face. Keep your hands off their pensions!
