the town finally agreed to let the fence stay so we actually pulled this off. thank you to everyone who backed me on this because i couldnt have handled the legal headache alone. i am just glad i can finally get some privacy in my own yard.

A resident of Petrolia Ontario has recently constructed a wood fence for privacy based on information she received from the town's senior planner. There was an unfortunate miscommunication and the resident has been asked to take it down. Since the resident is on a corner lot, the fence is technically in her "front" yard, even though it is the side of the house and not accurate with her physical address.
The resident is asking the people of the Town of Petrolia to sign the petition and allow the resident to construct a wooden fence in this "front" portion of her property. The resident will abide by all by-laws in regards to height and ensuring people can see around the corner when at the stop sign (known as the visibility triangle). The resident is willing to make changes to the fence for it to comply with fencing by-laws as if it were treated as a side yard.
The resident has the right to privacy on her own property.
Please help and support this resident by signing and sharing this petition. Residents in the Town of Petrolia are only allowed to sign.

I recently have used that corner and it is NOT blocking any view..she should be able to keep the fence
I’ve seen the fence in person and see no issue with it. There are many houses in petrolia that are almost abandon looking and have had little up keep done to them that are more of an eye sore then a privacy fence. Not to mention it’s a safe place for her dog to run!
I strongly believe this woman fence causes no interference within the town. It’s a beautiful fence that accentuates the home.
I seen the fence it looks great, I stopped at the stop sign and had no issues seeing down the road , if the town has an issue with obstruction they should maybe think about making the intersection a four way stop , it would make more sense as this is close to schools and help slow some of the traffic down, I say let the fence stay !
If there was a miscommunication then there should be concessions made from the city to work with the homeowner.
Property owners should be aloud use of their own property!
