The council just confirmed they are finding an alternative site and our green space is officially off the table. After months of worrying about where my kids would play, I can finally breathe easy knowing our neighborhood park is safe. Thank you for staying by my side until we got …
We the undersigned being residents of the Fairways Estate are strongly opposed to the use of the Fairways Avenue Green for an assisted living development. We recognise and support the need for such developments but do not think it is appropriate to deprive local people of the only large area of green space on our estate. We ask the Council to look for an alternative site.
I spent the afternoon walking around the green and imagining it filled with heavy construction machinery instead of the kids playing there now. We have been sending our concerns to the planning office daily and waiting for them to acknowledge the simple fact that this is the heart of our community.

Seeing this community unite behind our green space feels surreal because my own kids play on that grass every single day. This tide of support shows the council that our neighborhood is worth protecting.

I am STRONGLY against the conversation of our green space being built on. I walk my dog like many others on this field twice a day minimum. My family has played on this field for generations and I have lived on this estate since I was born. You are depriving future generations of these same joys by turning our beloved estate into a concrete jungle.

Why do the council need to develope on this land.... I do not understand. Kids need this area because my kids play on this field when the council can be bothered to cut the grass, why can't they a small kids football pitch and a nice play area instead of selling to these big developers that make cardboard houses and sell them at silly prices

This space should stay open . To many houses have been built in the area local roads, amenities can not cope with the increase. It should really be developed as a community area / park

The children of the estate need somewhere to play, it’s been at least 30 years since the park play area was taken out and nothing was put in its place, a polar park with swings etc should be place back there.

This field is the only play area on the Estate, shame on Newcastle councillors for even thinking of building on it, its obvious not one of them live on the estate or this wouldn't be happening, typical of them to s**t on someone else's doorstep.
