I am still seeing comments from people who think I am arguing against summer jobs instead of academic busywork. My kids deserve a real break from their desks after the school year ends.

The momentum behind this push to reclaim our children's summer break has become truly impossible to ignore. Seeing so many families connect with this struggle reminds me why I started this fight in the first place.

I can certainly support what they said. I have summer assignments to get in to pre ap and ap classes (for those who don't know what that is it's the honors or the advanced class). It is certainly stressful having to do two and three essays or things just for one assignment. It's only to get in the class and if you don't turn it in on the first day your out of that class. It's pretty horrible.
I've only had to do summer homework for AP per College Board requirements, but AP is a choice. Summer homework should not be given to students who are not voluntarily taking high level classes such as dual enrollment or AP. Best of luck!
My school recently got rid of summer reading/homework and it was the best thing ever done. Not having the stress over school over the summer is an amazing thing, and I will gladly fight for other schools to relieve their students of this stress.
It is unfair to assign us work over our summer vacation (keyword: VACATION), especially work to be done by certain dates. Many of us are away from home during the summer, with little to no access to computers and resources, and barely any time. The amount of stress that is put on us to complete an assignment by a certain time whilst being occupied with other activities is very tiring. If most other states have abolished summer work, it would be smart for us to join in and do the same.
Vacation is in the name of summer VACATION. The point of a vacation is to have a break from work and stress. Assigning work over the summer eliminates the point of the vacation.

Even though they ended summer work where I live, It's necessary I sign this, because everything said is true, our children need to develop imagination and exercise as summer work does not help that.
