At the moment, our core neighborhood (from Breckenridge on the north to Division on the south, and Cooper Ave on the west to 9th Ave on the east) has no name. It used to be called St. John Cantius Neighborhood, but recently this name has been removed from "current and future city documents".

The Edelbrock Neighborhood Group is currently trying to apply for a grant with the Arts Commission to hopefully make concrete benches with poetry or mosaics on them to place throughout our neighborhood. To do this we need a name. So we are asking neighbors to sign this petition to help get us a name that has been historically known in our neighborhood and throughout the city.

PLEASE ONLY SIGN IF YOU HAVE NOT SIGNED THE PAPER PETITION and you live in the neighborhood described above

We, the undersigned, petition the city to officially change our neighborhood name to Edelbrock Neighborhood, which reflects the rich history of the area.

St John Cantius is the actual history of this place. Edelbrock is just some guy who owned a rail lot. Keep the real name.

St John Cantius is the name of our central historic landmark that was built by our community coming together, while Edelbrock is the name of the person who speculated on the land nearer the tracks that is only part of our neighborhood. I prefer St John Cantius and don't really think the majority of residents are for changing it.
