Many of us have experienced difficulty or confusion at times, explaining our unique location, as many associate the Docklands with “The Wheel” or “Marvel Stadium”.
When we vote in State and Federal Elections, we come under a different electorate to Docklands residents on the other side of the river.
After an initial discussion with council to request a name change to “Yarra’s Edge” and also to adopt the 3007 postcode, so we can be recognised and more easily located.
To demonstrate to the City of Melbourne we aim to gather a minimum of 1,000 signatures in support of the change from local business owners, residents and owners.

100% support! Yarra's Edge feels like the forgotten cousin in Melbourne, because we aren't really Docklands and we also aren't Port Melbourne. I'm also tired of taxi/uber drivers trying to prove they know where docklands is without using their navigation system and having to argue they are going the wrong way
Great idea!!! If one more person ask me "how close to the wheel is your office?" I will probably lose it. Sydney consultants my business deals with say our office is in "The Port Melbourne part of Docklands" Please change it.
I think it is necessary to get our own postcode on this side of the river. Everyone automatically thinks of Docklands as being north of the Yarra. We have a different vibe on the south side and we are almost an extension of Southbank. Strongly in favour of post code change.
As a resident of Yarras Edge I support the change. I don't know of any other suburbs in Melbourne that cover as much space as "Docklands" - the area is to broad and Yarras Edge is truly distinct from the Docklands of Harbour Esplanade, 888 Collins and The Wheel.
I believe a new postcode to differentiate Docklands from Yarra’s Edge will eliminate a lot of confusion. We have a population in excess of 3000 residents and still have 2-3 towers to be built. We do not share a boundary with Docklands. I hope the council gets behind this.

It’s definitely very confusing having the Docklands suburb on both sides of the river especially as the development continues further down the Yarra. Yarra’s Edge would be a significant improvement for delivery drivers, guests and emergency services.
