*PLEASE DISREGARD THE "DONATION" OPTION GIVEN AFTER SIGNING THIS PETITION. IT IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH OUR EPNCO PETITION."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On May 19th, 2010, the Elmwood Park School Board denied the members of the EPNCO (Elmwood Park Neighborhood Civic Organization) an opportunity to place a permanent sign dedicating the Elmwood Elementary field renovation to the boys and girls of the Village of Elmwood Park. You can see the proposed design here: http://www.myepnco.com/news/2010/05/village-denies-dedication/ The school board did suggest a temporary sign that would be displayed only during baseball games. So for nearly 9 months out the year, there would be no sign at all when baseball/softball is not in season. The school board suggested that the EPNCO put the logos of the Village of Elmwood Park and the school board on the sign. The truth of the matter is that the EPNCO organized this entire fundraiser and field renovation, getting $0 from the school board and village budget. They privately raised close to $25,000 for a project that would have otherwise cost well over $50,000. Please sign this petition to show your support for all the time and effort put in by Elmwood Park residents and business owners. The field will be dedicated to the boys and girls of Elmwood Park as sponsored by the EPNCO.

The lack of movement from the board is draining but I am not dropping this. We spent our own money and time to build that field so a simple sign is the very least they can offer in return.

Reaching this level of support has been a long time coming after so many months of being ignored by the board. My enthusiasm feels heavy because the fight remains difficult but knowing people are still watching this helps me keep going.

School board needs to stop playing politics. The community built the field so let the community claim it.

The people who worked on this field deserve some credit. It looks great and really helped the kids out.

Such a shame. This was for the kids, not for the board members to get their logos on a wall. Fix it.

Ridiculous that the village wants to slap their name on something they didnt pay a dime for. Let the EPNCO have their sign.

Spent so many weekends helping with the renovation. We put the sweat into this place. The sign is the least we can do.
