For many decades the perilous intersection of Dulaney Valley Road and Seminary Avenue has become increasingly more dangerous. There have been multiple fatalities and scores of very serious accidents. All of us in the surrounding neighborhoods have heard of or witnessed terrible accidents mostly resulting from speeding northbound vehicles on Dulaney Valley Rd. To date and despite the request of politicians in the past, the Maryland State Highway Administration who is responsible for Dulaney Valley Rd has felt that additional safety measures are not warranted. The only solution offered was to install a revenue producing red light camera as a deterrent. Recently another tragic accident happened with a graduating senior headed off to swim in college.

Those of us in the Hampton/Pot Spring/Towson/Seminary Avenue communities implore the MD SHA to consider the following:

1. Immediately make the left turn lights North and Southbound on Dulaney Valley Road Solid Red/Yellow/Green Arrow lights as opposed to the current situation where cars can proceed left on yellow and risk being broadsided by cars either running the red light or potentially speeding up to make the yellow.

2. Find a long term solution possibly with a roundabout that would not only calm the excessive speed on Dulaney Valley, but also prevent horrific turning and speed related accidents at the intersection of Seminary Ave and Dulaney Valley Rd.

3. In addition, consider the solution along with the intersection of Pot Spring and Dulaney Valley Roads. Many drivers have noticed that when traveling down the hill Northbound on Dulaney Valley Road just prior to Seminary Ave, if the light at Seminary is red but the light at Pot Spring is green, it can be an optical illusion where one may see thru the red light at Seminary and just see the green at Pot Spring

The Pictures above are from just a few of the accidents in the last few years. Please MD SHA, do something before another life is lost or another life is forever altered by injury.

The amount of traffic and people crossing to walk / bike the Glen Ellen trail continues to grow at Dulaney Valley and Seminary. That growth will multiple the traffic accidents as well as the tragedies associated with them. Listen to our pleas!

I have seen too many accidents in my 12 years of living on Dulaney Valley and have heard MANY near misses. People traveling south go just as fast! I had a young man die in my back yard at this intersection as well. Heartbreaking.

Suggest no right on red from Seminary to DVR. Speed camera in addition to red light camera. Extremely dangerous turning north on DVR from the east side of Seminary to get to the far left lane on DVR, to turn left on Pot Springs. Reduce speed limit.

I live off of Dulaney Valley Road and risk my life pulling on to it everyday. I have seen more accidents than I care to count. It is abhorrent that the County has done nothing to stop the speeding. I pray for this poor young lady and her family.

Put in roundabouts all the way up Dulaney Valley, starting at Fairmount, including Charmuth, Pot Spring, Seminary, and Timonium up to Jarretsville pike intersection. Not only safer but also prevents traffic back ups since traffic keeps moving but at a slower pace.

My daughter and I were nearly killed when we were walking. We carefully waited for the light to turn, but a car that was speeding down Dulaney Valley chose to rid the red light. I had to shove my young daughter out of the way. She was nearly killed.

This intersection is especially dangerous because of the high volume of traffic and the difficulty in making a left turn

The amount of car accidents since the red light camera has been installed is insane. That intersection is not safe.
