The Hillsdale Condominium community is fed up with the accidents that continue to occur on Village Parkway due to excess speed, and distracted driving. Over the last 5 years, our entrance sign and front entry have been damaged by irresponsible drivers, causing homeowners to have to repair the entrance. Homeowners and renters have been involved in horrible accidents while attempting to exit our subdivision. Three (3) serious, critical, and preventable accidents have occurred outside our subdivision in July 2023, alone.
The Hillsdale community contains 216 units within the Hillsdale 2 condominium community and 240 units within the Park at Hillsdale condominium community. The residents of our combined community would like to see one or more of our suggestions enacted by the Smyrna Mayor and City Council.
1. A traffic light installation at the entrance to the Hillsdale Condominium entrance.
2. A speed limit reduction from 45 mph to 35 mph, and increased police presence ticketing the speeders driving 60mph and higher through the curves that exist on Village Parkway.
3. Turning Lanes created on Village Parkway at the entrance to our subdivision.
4. A sign is installed indicating when traffic is oncoming from either direction, for safety as the roadways curve and it’s impossible to see traffic from either direction.
5. Village Parkway only contains residential entrances and exits. Install speed bumps/ breakers to deter speeding and distracted driving.
The residents of Village Parkway, Hillsdale 2 Condominiums and the Park at Hillsdale appreciate the mayor and councilmembers consideration to this dangerous, life threatening issue.

I spent the afternoon watching cars barrel past our entrance well above the speed limit and it is terrifying to think our neighbors are risking their lives just to leave home. I am currently reaching out to council members to demand they look at the wreckage of our entry sign and finally take our safety seriously.

Witnessing this surge of momentum feels surreal because it reminds me that my neighbors are finally tired of living in fear just to pull out of our own driveway. Seeing so many people recognize the danger on Village Parkway proves that we are no longer fighting this battle alone.

I no longer walk my dog on Village Parkway as so many vehicles speed past and are driven recklessly that it’s unsafe. It’s also nerve wracking waiting to turn into our entrance with approaching cars traveling much too quickly in both directions.
I have lived at Hillsdale for 12+ years. I love where I live with the exception of our entrance. I have to make a left out every morning and I honestly feel I’m taking a risk doing so. Our beautiful front entrance has been destroyed numerous times by speeders on Village Parkway and several neighbors have been involved in accidents trying to pull out of our community that have resulted in their vehicles being totaled. While I hope for a traffic light — what I do not understand is why on earth is there a traffic light at The Alcove apartments next door. I drive by there frequently and never see anyone trying to exit that property.
Something needs done Asap
Roadway safety is a quality of life issue. Please make our roadway safer for all who reside in this area.
I live in Cortland at the Village. Coming out the back gate is dangerous due to speeding on the road.
On May 5 th I witnessed a car in the flower bed of the front entrance stuck on rock in the flower bed. They had to a wrecker but don’t think the police were ever notified. It’s ridiculous
We need a TRAFFIC LIGHT, HIDDEN DRIVEWAY SIGN, REDUCE SPEED SIGN OR A SPEED CAMERAS that will hand out speed violations.

We need to have the Speed limit changed to 30 or 35 mph. Then speed bumps. I have been one of the many victims of total loss of my car and fortunately alive to sign this petition
