The volume of support has secured us a formal meeting with the local planning commission to discuss the dredging requirements. I am currently preparing the technical data regarding current channel depths to present at that hearing.

Absolutely, get this channel dredged. someone is going to be killed due to inability to navigate from Harkers Island/Core Sound to Cape Lookout area. Barden Inlet feeds Core Sound from the southern end and is vital for the environmental health of the sound. Coastal property values will also be impacted in the Down East communities when there is no longer access to the area.
NEED TO DREDGE THIS ASAP. IT IS A DEATH TRAP NOW.
Its a total mess out there. Ran aground twice last weekend and im done with it. Fix it before someone loses a boat or worse.
we go down every summer and it gets worse every year. so sick of worrying if we can get back to the landing without hitting a sandbar.
Been fishing here my whole life and it is basically unnavigable during low tide now. Economics of the whole area depend on this access.

only remaining access to Cape Lookout will be via open ocean through a very dangerous and crowded Morehead City / Beaufort Inlet.
