The purpose of this petition is to prevent the proposed development by Sandtrend of the field known as the Christmas Tree field, land off the Wantage Road.
We want to remove the threat to the community by completely defeating these proposals.
The surge of support for our position on the Wantage Road project demonstrates a clear consensus within our community. This momentum provides us with the necessary resolve to challenge these development plans effectively.

The land could be put to much better use by extending the Donnington playing fields. This would extend the possibility of not just cricket and football but other recreational sports. We only have the existing facility thanks to some far-sighted parishioners many years ago who compulsorily purchased the land. Let us use the same method again.

This is definitely an inappropriate site for a housing development. Building on this land will affect flooding in Donnington village & the recreation ground. We experienced significant flooding in our garden which is adjacent to the proposed development in 2007 - flooding which also badly affected the village.

Living in Castle Lane and noting Santrend's intention to have an exit onto Castle Lane, it is clear that the development would result in major congestion in Castle Lane and through the village. Although Sandtrend specifically mention pedestrians, cyclists and emergency vehicles, there is no certainty such a development would not lead to vehicles using Castle Lane for access to the development. The retirement homes are to be sited adjoining the Lane entrance to the playing fields, which may impede access to the playing fields.

I object to this development on the grounds that increased traffic would add to the danger on the Wantage Road
The infrastructure would not cope and the proposed houses would be liable to flooding.

Although I live on the periphery of this site it would affect me with regard to traffic and flooding. These large companies bombard their way through planning without any idea of the area and nearly always win.

There has already been a large development approved in Donnington (in spite of local opposition) no way this should even be considered since it's green-belt land, with poor road access

this is a key bit of countryside and must remain accessible to the local community.

This is a dangerous road as it is so I believe more fatal accidents will happen as a result of the large increase in cars and nothing can justify this. Sandtrend Homes must find a more suitable location for all these houses and not put people's lives at risk for the sake of profit.
