A developer has applied to build 55 homes on a greenfield site in a semi-rural area outside Peasedown St John's housing development boundary (HDB) at Church Road. Residents Protecting Peasedown is a group formed to fight these large developments in a village that's already shouldered thousands of new homes for the area over the last 20 years with no comensurate improvements in infrastructure. Development outside of the HDB would not normally be allowed under local planning law, but BANES Council's development plans are out of date, making it easier for developers to push through unsuitable development using national policy until new local planning laws are agreed (c.September 2014). To ensure these plans are not approved we are requesting that this planning application is put before BANES Development Control Committee. I have submitted a formal request to the planning department to ensure this application proceeds directly to the Development Control Committee. My focus remains on challenging the legality of building outside the housing development boundary while our local policies are currently in transition.

The scale of this response confirms to the Council that this proposal lacks local mandate. We are now finalizing the formal request to compel a hearing before the Development Control Committee.

When does this onslaught of 'sustainable, affordable housing' stop! Do they not understand that when the green space has gone you can't get it back!!!! We live here because it is green not grey!
This proposal will add yet more chaos along the narrow, poorly maintained and pot holed roads along church road and Firgrove Lane which is frequented by walkers, already having to dodge the ever increasing and speeding traffic
Access will be terrible for this development. Firgrove Lane just below the developement can be inpassable in the winter and large amounts of water run down in heavy rainfall. More houses would make this worse. Also schools are full. Doctors facilities are tiny. Peasedown has had it,s full capacity of developement. When is Radstock regeneration going to take it,s share?
As well as spoiling the homes of those who live adjacent, this *will* dramatically increase rat-running through local village of Carlingcott.
I am very concerned at the increasing urbanisation of this area. Peasedown needs properly planned improvements, not just more large-scale, ad-hoc developments. Any development should be based on a proper assessment of community requirements and sustainability, not just a 'need' to meet arbitrary council-wide targets.
This is a greenfield site with a beautiful view. It will severely detract from the beauty of the area. Peasedown has had an enormous expansion of houses and doesn't have the facilities or infrastructure to absorb any more.
Peasedown and the neighbouring villages can take no more new homes. Local planning law recognises this and now action needs to be taken by the BANES Development Control Committee to prevent 55 new homes being built on a greenfield site.

Peasedown is now the biggest 'Village' in the South West, we want to remain a 'Village' and we DO NOT have the facilities (or infrastructure) to cope with more buildings, in fact we have had facilities TAKEN from us to accommodate the bursting at the seams School already, this is a NO GO !!!!
