We, the parents and students, of Dan Knott jr. High are petitioning to revise the dress code guide lines for female students. How we would like it to read is as follows: -low cut shirts showing excessive cleavage is not acceptable. -when ever possible bra straps should be covered but, some leeway should be aloud for tank tops as it would be more inappropriate for students not to wear a bra so their bra straps would not be showing. - skirts and shorts should be long enough to completely cover the entire backside and must continue to cover with normal movement ( sitting, standing, bending over, squatting, ect.) -sweats/pants/skits/shorts may only be rolled down below the hip bone if worn over an appropriately covering article of clothing. (Ex. Shorts or no bared mid drift) As the parents supplying our children with clothing we face the difficulty of finding what the school deems acceptable based on the unavailability of such clothing in stores due to current trends. It is our responsibility to ensure that our children appear presentable and respectable at all times. It is not our intention to encourage the wearing of provocative or unacceptable clothing. It is also difficult to follow a dress code dictating measurements such as six inches from the knee, with the varying height, shapes weights and sizes of teenage girls.
