My name is Kristi Brooks, Im a 15 year old girl currently studying at Heathfield High School in the Adelaide hills, At the end of this year, they held an assembly addressing the problem they have with the length of our skirts, and dresses,
around 70-80-90 Year eight & Nine students were asked to stay behind after an awards ceremony, No men were present beside the Schools Principle, Several female teachers in casual dress brought this to our knowledge, One of our school leaders informed us that as of next year our skirts and dresses needed too be 10cm above the knee or "A Horizontal iphone length" as she then stated,
Every school has their own rules and regulations but never before has this been an issue since Heathfield started having leighway upon students wearing the uniform how they wanted.
She then stated that it makes Males/ Male staff and school staff "Uncomfortable" When we are walking up the stairs because they could see up them.
All of us took this terribly, Many sighs and debate fell across the room,
I think in my own opinion that if students feel comfortable, and if their parents allow, They should be able to dress significantly in school uniform adjusting a skirt above or below the knee,
Many students get away with wearing barely or little uniform at all, And us girls are being body shamed because Staff feel uncomfortable with us walking up the stairs, sitting cross legged.
Alot of female staff at this school are not good examples towards us girls, As well as T.V, Books, Magazines being an extremely over sexualised generation, we can blame many things, If female staff can wear tops that show cleavage, And skirts that are above the knee, Why can't we? We should be able to feel comfortable and happy at school. Not body shamed and recognized as A " Slut" for wearing the skirts and dresses to our own length.

Signing this Online petition will give girls at Heathfield High relief, and a less stressing future to study at our school.
