Transport for London finally backed down and off our park. They tried to take our green space for their construction site but we refused to let them destroy it. Stay alert because we will be watching to make sure they stick to this promise.

Final supporters
Transport for London have included Shoreditch Park as a potential ventilation shaft and construction site for the proposed Crossrail 2 underground railway which is currently in the early stages of consultation. The construction site would cover approximately one fifth of the western part of the park.
We recognise that Crossrail 2 will greatly improve public transport capacity in Hackney, taking cars off our roads, and making our journeys to work quicker and safer. We also recgonise that the design of the railway means that a ventilation shaft is required in this part of Hackney.
However we do not think this should be at the expense of Hoxton's only significant open green space.
Shoreditch Park is the garden of thousands of people who live in flats next to and near our park. It is where our children play, we walk our dogs, play sport, take part in local events, and lie back and enjoy the summer sunshine. It is not a suitable site for a construction site - whether that be for one month, one year or - as Transport for London are proposing - three to six years.
Therefore we urge Transport for London in the strongest terms to ensure that the construction site and shaft required in north Hoxton to be put somewhere other than Shoreditch Park. Whilst we recognise consultation for Crossrail 2 is in its early stages - with construction not beginning until 2020 or beyond - we think it is important that this issue of great concern is resolved as soon as possible.

Transport for London is finally feeling the heat because of the massive momentum behind this fight. They think they can just pave over our only green space but this surge proves we are not going to let them destroy Shoreditch Park without a fight.

Transport for London thinks they can just bulldoze our community space without a fight. We are creeping toward our first hundred signatures so get this link to your neighbors right now to show the bureaucrats we aren't backing down.

You want to improve people's live don't you? Taking away a much needed green space in a heavily populated and traffic polluted area is not going to do that. How about that ramshackle car park next to the Eagle pub?
As a resident of Gainsborough Studios, I strongly oppose the location of the Crossrail vent in Shoreditch Park. I think there are good alternatives like old warehouses nearby which should make it easy to find another solution. We use the Park on a daily base.
Surely there are brown field sites that could be considered for the Crossrail 2 vent? Shoreditch Park was born out of the devastating destruction of WW2 which decimated great swathes of Hoxton. Please don't destroy the area again.
Shoreditch Park is a very rare inner London sports field, particularly popular as an adult Tag Rugby venue during spring, summer and autumn. In would be gutting to see the sports fields taken out of use, denying hundreds of participants access to play sport in this part of London.
1.to turn such a large part of the park into a construction site for 6 years is obvioulsy a bad outcome for park users 2. the site of the works is directly infront of flats where hundreds of people live. other sites proposed in this area do not have these drawbacks to the same extent
Shoreditch Park is a vital and heavily used resource for the people of the area. It is the only significant green space in Hoxton and ALL of it must be preserved for the mental and physical health of the residents.
Shoreditch park shouldn't be touched or reduced due to TFL or cross rail or anything else. Shoreditch park is our local green area, we love using it and it's the only substantial park in this area. Stop erecting buildings or other things in any lands you find, you are ruining our London. This doesn't happen in Berlin, the quality of living in London is going down specially in Zone 1 or 2. We want our park as it's.

I have played in Shoreditch Park since I was able to walk I'm 54 now and I take my grandchildren there to play, walk my dogs and ride my bike. It would be a terrible thing for many people who still live around the area and use the park everyday like I do. Where else would we go?
