Recently, UPA has been experiencing an extreme amount of maintenance issues. A few of these issues include: torn down light fixtures, overflowing trash rooms, broken washers, flooding laundry rooms, hallways missing carpet, displaced vending machines, and defective air conditioning.
An email was sent out on Friday, October 12th and signed by Trent Pinto and Antonia Pee, the Director and Associate Director of Residence Education and Development at the University of Cincinnati stating that “UPA will begin utilizing community billing to repair the damages”. The reasoning behind this included a reference to the Bearcat Bond.
If you believe that billing all members of the UPA community for a few students’ wrongdoing and a faulty building design/upkeep is a direct violation of the Bearcat Bond, then I encourage you to sign your name on this petition. To uphold the principles for a Just Community, we must hold ourselves and the people that manage our residence halls responsible for their actions. We can’t allow authority to toss blame on the victims at their leisure.

The management team at University Park Apartments has not responded to our concerns about community billing. Send an email to the Office of Residence Education and Development today to demand they address these maintenance failures instead of charging us for them.

The momentum behind this petition proves that residents will not accept collective punishment for management failures. Post our link on Facebook and text three friends who live in the building to ensure our message reaches every floor today.

My ac has been broken since move in and now they want us to pay for other people breaking stuff? absolute joke.
Unacceptable conditions.
Ridiculous that they keep raising rent but cant even empty the trash or fix the carpet in the halls.
This is an obvious money grab and it would be immature of the university if they address us so let by emails and not talk to us in person.
There are so many maintenance issues with UPA already regardless of the broken light fixtures. This place is expensive enough that there should be no reason the conditions are reminiscent of a motel on the side of the interstate.

At the very least, fix the rooms you intend to bill.
