Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to read this.......

Chestnut Lane and Elangeni schools have exits onto Chestnut Lane and Woodside Avenue. Children are able to walk relatively safely home from school in most directions because there are 2 other zebra crossings on Sycamore Road and Bois Lane, unless they have to cross Chestnut Lane itself to get to Parkfield Avenue, Chestnut Close, New Road etc – these roads feed many other residential roads in the area.

220 children from the schools (approx 50%) exit via the gate onto Chestnut Lane, either because their pick up is parked there or to venture onto Chestnut Lane's pavements, many will then need to cross Chestnut Lane to access other roads.

We need a zebra crossing or traffic calming measures installed on Chestnut Lane somewhere around where the school pupils exit, this is a very serious accident waiting to happen, i’ve seen children stepping into the road who are not yet capable of making the right decisions for themselves.

Please sign this on-line petition and share on social media to add your support to encourage our council to look at this and take the right action by our children and future year groups.

It's really important that as many parents (both, not just 1 per household) and grandparents sign this, and its also not exclusive to children that attend Chestnut Lane and Elangeni schools, as other school children have to cross this road as well to other schools.

Many thanks!
