It is vital for the safety of both children & adults that a crossing be installed outside the school. I also think traffic calming measures are needed along Chestnut Lane, as well as addressing 'parent parking issues' at drop off & pick up times. Parents do not park in a safe, considerate manor. I am surprised that there has not been a serious incident.

More care is needed when parents are parking on various streets off Chestnut Lane and the speeds to which they drive cut to 20 mph

Parked cars (especially at school drop and pick up) and cars that drive too fast make Chestnut Lane very dangerous for families, especially children walking in the area. I am a parent of two small children in the area, and feel very strongly that we need a crossing asap.

I would like to encourage my younger child to walk to school but due to no crossing I am driving to school everyday . My older child who’s is 10 keeps on saying how he has to be very careful as cars are so fast .

Resident of Chestnut Close and parent of child at Elangeni. The parking around the school is terrible, with cars mounting the pavement without any care for small children. A zebra crossing is well over due.

This is vital for this section of road - I have two children that attend Chestnut Lane and Elageni schools and we see cars driving dangerously fast on a daily basis. If this isn't addressed and measures introduced it will only be a matter of time before a serious incident takes place.

A Zebra crossing would help but would not address all the dangers as others have mentioned.

My child is going to chestnut lane school and we live in chestnut lane as well. its very dangerous for the child to cross the road due to speeding vehicles. I also recommend for speed warning or sign board 20 Miles per hour.

An excellent idea, providing a safe place to cross for children. Hopefully this would help slow vehicles down outside the school

This should have been put in place long time ago. I am extremely grateful that someone has taken this on to get some action.

Many cars and vans speed past Chestnut Lane school whilst our children are walking to and from school. There is a straight stretch of road in front of it and the road is often busy, especially in the morning. A zebra crossing would help to keep the children safe.

Living opposite the school I see regular speeding cars on Chestnut Lane. This should be a controlled 20 mph area before someone is seriously injured or worse....

Very important we get this approved. The speed some drivers go on that road is ridiculous.

With two grandchildren at Chestnut Lane School, I have been very concerned about the speed of the traffic past the school and have mentioned it to a local councillor and the school. So I'm very happy to sign the petition for a zebra crossing, it can't come too soon.

It is really important that this matter is addressed before an accident occurs. A zeba crossing is surely imperative outside a primary school and a flashing light system to warn drivers of the risk of children entering the road.

My grandson attends Chestnut Lane School and its imperative for the safety of all children and parents that a safe zebra crossing is installed on Chestnut Lane
