Changes to 47 Bus Route Chelmsford (Beaulieu Park, Broomfield Chelmer Village)
A review of the number 47 bus service with a view to improve its service to the community. The aim is to get the 47 bus to run more frequently throughout the early part of the day and to start at the same place each day. This will benefit many people, including:
Staff working at Broomfield hospital to use it to get back to Beaulieu Park and Chelmer Village (and Chelmsford City Centre),
Children heading to Beaulieu Park School from Broomfield and local area,
Children from Chelmer Village to use the service to get Beaulieu Park School
Help people to go from bus station towards Beaulieu Park
By improving the 47 bus service, it will service the community now and in future. This doesn’t just impact on people wanting to use the service this year, but people who are considering using the bus next year, for example, if you are considering Beaulieu Park School in the future for your child.
This should relieve traffic on the local busy routes. If a bus service is not available, car usage will increase by workers from the hospital and children travelling towards Beaulieu Park and the new school, making our busy roads even more congested.

I have been staring at the bus schedules again and it keeps hitting me how impossible the current gaps are for anyone trying to actually get to work or school on time. I keep getting messages from people stuck at stops wondering if the bus is real or just a ghost and honestly it is exhausting seeing how much time we all lose just waiting for something that should be reliable.

It would be very helpful to have buses from Broomfield hospital to Beaulieu first thing in the morning. I understand some Broomfield children will be going to the new school and it is not safe to walk or cycle as no pavements or road crossings. Local businesses are advertising for staff and I would have to drive, but with the earlier start for the bus, that would be preferable.
With the new school opening this summer it would reduce the traffic that is already very heavy. I also work at Broomfield hospital and would benefit if there was more busses in the morning and afternoon. I would then use public transport rather than drive every day.
Would like to see an increase in frequency from Chelmer Village to Beaulieu Park School
I want the flexibility of a decent public bus service for my son rather than being tied into a private company arrangement that we won't always use.
Beaulieu Park looks like an exciting new venture. If Broomfield students are to access, they need a safe way to get to school. All the research indicates that children are most likely to have accidents crossing roads. A bus from Broomfield to Beaulieu marching school hours would ensure a safe passage and low chance of accident.
A review of the number 47 bus service is long overdue.
Everything should be done to ensure that pupils travel to school safely.

Much needed connection to hospital and Beaulieu Park including the newly opening school there. Keeps traffic numbers numbers down Gives children responsibility to get to school, whilst making it safe. Helps hospital workers return home directly. Ultimately this wins all round, significantly reducing traffic, increasing safety for children, which is what we should all be aiming for.
