On 22nd December 2013, we received a letter from Cheshire East Council regarding the review of all walking routes to school across the borough and their decision to cease our school bus from March 2013. We (the Ettiley Heath parents) are appealing against the council's decision following this 20 year review and want our bus from Ettiley Heath to Wheelock Primary School to remain in place. The route between Ettiley Heath and Wheelock Primary School was deemed unavailable in 1992 because of difficulties walking along Hind Heath Road and this as far as we can see is the same now as it was then. Their letter states that the route has been assessed and they have found two alternative routes to walk but both these options were available in 1992 and were deemed unacceptable then and I feel they are still unacceptable now. Wheeock primary is currently under consultation for an extension to enable them to take in more children each year to meet the ever growing demand of children moving into the area, with this in mind we feel it only a matter of time before a child is seriously injured on Crewe Road with the amount of parents that will be driving their children to school following this ridiculous decision. We would be interested to hear from the person/s who carried out the re-assessment and classified it as available for pupils to walk to and from school accompanied as necessary as they clearly either do not have children, do not need to be at work in a timely manner in the mornings and have no concept of distance. RIDICULOUS decision. If they add more pupils to the school then more cars will be on the road. It makes no sense at all.

The traffic on that road is already a nightmare. How are we supposed to get to work on time if we have to walk across that dangerous stretch of road every single morning?

My kids have been on this bus for years. It is not safe to walk that route and nothing has changed since 92 to make it any better. Sort it out.

Totally ridiculous. Have they even walked that road themselves? Clearly not. Keep the bus running!

Council needs to stop cutting corners on kids safety. It should not take an accident for them to realize this is a bad idea.

Keep the bus. It works for everyone.
