The official decision to move the holiday to the last Saturday of October reflects a collective shift toward prioritizing time with our families. Thank you for staying committed to this change so we can finally enjoy our traditions without the typical weekday rush. We will be watching closely to ensure …
I am creating this Petition to be sent to all the families that celebrates the Halloween holiday. I have come to realize, with my family getting bigger, that having Halloween on any given weekday (including Sunday) is not feasible. When it falls on a regular week night, there isn't enough time to properly celebrate. I find myself being rushed and not being able to relax and enjoy the kids having fun. Dinner is typically skipped, costumes are done without care and most people have to work the next day. If we switch the observance of Halloween to the last Saturday of October, everybody wins. All the kids will be off from school and most of the parents will also be off from work. After kids parties and trick-or-treating the adults can even have some HOLLOWEEN fun. This should also be great for all businesses; from costume and supply stores, to eating and party places. We all have fought the time with masks and costumes, getting the candy and all the decorations, and finding the time to do all this. Lets move this date and make Halloween a fun time and make our life a little easier.
Plus Halloween on a week night causes two wasted days of school. Kids are too excited on trick or treat day and too tired and sugar filled the day after. Not much learning goes on for those two days. Change it!

This needs to happen. The problem with Halloween falling on Monday-Friday is the kids go out Trick Or Treating when people are coming home from work, and there is alot of danger with the traffic. Also If you are an adult and want to go to a Halloween Party you don't have to rush home to get up for work the next day.And it could be even worse if you go out to a party at a bar/club, and have to wake up with a hangover.

As a teacher and parent I know that children should be celebrating Halloween on a weekend night for their health and academic success.

As it is Halloween will not fall in a weekend until 2020. We do Halloween up big but it's hard to do on a Monday night.

Let's make this happen Kingwood, Tx! Maybe the rest of the world will follow this great idea! If Thanksgiving and Easter can be on different dates each year, why can't the holiday that requires kids and parents to stay up extra late?!
