Every year, Nature Camp at Camp Mohawk provides an irreplaceable experience for the children and families in our community. It is more than just a fun summer activity; it is a vital community program where young people step away from screens to learn about biodiversity, develop survival skills, and build a lifelong respect for our environment.
The county’s funding cuts threaten to shut down operations of our Nature Camp and other ranger programs. Losing our camp means losing safe, educational enrichment in the outdoors that teaches new skills, fosters self-confidence and broadens the horizons of our youth. The availability of programs such as this have a cumulative effect on our community at large. The more exposure children have to interacting with green environments throughout their youth, the stronger their mental resilience becomes in later life. This is an important factor to consider that can shape and strengthen Brazoria County’s community in years to come.
Investing in nature education is an investment in our community's future. We urge you to prioritize this and similar programs for our children, protect our local environment, and keep Nature Camp at Camp Mohawk fully funded.

The kids absolutely loved the camp and learned so much. Not only are the children learning life skills, but they are learning to respect and care for our outdoors and wildlife. This camp gives so many children a chance to experience outdoor activities they would have never gotten to do. Sarah Sumrall
My son really benefitted from going to Nature Camp this week. It was so thought out and planned. He would come home so excited for all that he learned and did while at camp. This keeps kids off devices and in nature learning during the down time of the summer.
These programs are vital to kids! Where else will they get this type of outdoor education? Without the staff, that are certified in these various areas teaching these kids, there are no programs.
Please continue to fund
This is important to the community, to family, and the youth.
We've participated in nature camp for the past four years. My kids look forward to volunteering as they age out of the program. Kids need to be outdoors more than ever. Please prioritize time in nature.

I hope to see these programs continue. My daughter has enjoyed them for two years and is hoping to be a group leader next year. I was looking forward to that leadership opportunity for her. I hope we still can.
