Camera for Cornthwaite Road

This weekend, three cars were broken into on the stretch of Cornthwaite Rd between Newick and Mildenhall Roads. Car crime happens so often on this stretch of road that barely a weekend goes by without us seeing a car window smashed, a lock wrenched off or a door forced open. Because there are no houses facing Cornthwaite Road thieves know they can get away with it - on Saturday they broke into a van in broad daylight. We are fed up with feeling vulnerable, having our cars smashed, our possessions stolen and paying higher insurance premiums. We want a camera put up on Cornthwaite Road. The police say Hackney Council will not spend £30,000 on installing and monitoring a camera unless the situation is really bad. We think the situation is bad enough now. To persuade the council, we need to show them how bad it is and for this, we need your help. Please sign the petition to show your support in making our neighborhood safer.
