This petition is on behalf of the students enrolled in the Bachelor of Music Degree at the University of Newcastle (UoN).

When searching for a university to attended many of us were drawn to UoN so we could study such subject as Music Recording and Production Techniques, Entering the Music Industry and Engaging in the Music Industry. These subjects were regarded as core subjects due to their importance for those wishing to gain employment in the music industry.

All of these subjects have been removed from the degree program and have been replaced with cross disciplinary subjects such as Entrepreneurship. Due to their nature of being core subjects, we as music students are being forced to study and pay for them.

Such major alterations to a degree program, affecting students midway through their degree, is unacceptable.

The University should relinquish these changes and honor the degree program as it was advertised when we enrolled. We request that all non music subjects are removed from the core list and relevant music subjects are reinstated. If this is not possible we are requesting for our HECCS debt to be removed as the degree program as it is, is very different to the degree we signed up to.

Thank you.
