To the Dean and the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, To the University Administration of the University of Technology of Sydney, The Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences is restricting Media Arts & Produciton students from undertaking Media Arts & Production Professional subjects as electives in 2010. Ultimately this means that students will be forced to change their plans for their degrees and undertake (and pay for) subjects which may have no where near as much professional or personal relevance to the education and future careers of students. We, the undersigned, demand the following: - The immediate removal of restrictions placed upon the electives available to Media Arts & Production students in 2010. - The immediate re-implementation of Media Arts & Production Professional subjects back into the Electives block on Web-Enrolment. - The immediate reconsideration and accommodation of subjects for Exchange and International Students who will return to find their degrees decimated and their choices harshly limited.

Updates

November 2, 2009

The volume of support has secured us a formal meeting with the Faculty Board to discuss the elective restrictions. I am currently drafting a briefing document to present our specific grievances regarding the impact on degree planning. Updates will follow once that discussion concludes.

UNACCEPTABLE. Sort this out.

This is ridiculous. We pay enough in tuition as it is without having our degree flexibility ruined by some admin decision. Let us pick our own subjects.
